Effective June 28, 2026 · GlycoLens, operated by Eisen Labs (eisenlabs.io)
GlycoLens ("the app", "we") helps you look up the glycemic index of foods and get general
metabolic guidance. This policy explains what data we handle and why. We keep it minimal — the app
has no user database.
What we collect
Google Sign-In (only if you use the AI coach): when you sign in, Google provides your
name, email address, and Google account identifier. We use these solely to verify it's you and to
apply fair-use rate limits. Verification happens on our server; we do not build a profile of you.
Food queries: when you request AI guidance, the food's details and any optional "context"
you type are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the response. If you enter personal or
health information into the context field, it is included in that request.
Barcode lookups: barcodes you scan or enter are sent to Open Food Facts to retrieve product
information. No personal information is sent.
On your device: your preferences (such as your model choice, context note, and any optional
personal API key) are stored only in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not sent
to us except as needed to fulfill an AI request you make.
Service providers
We rely on these processors to run the app: Google (sign-in), Anthropic (AI generation),
Upstash (rate-limiting and caching), Vercel (hosting), and Open Food Facts (product
data). Each processes data only as needed to provide its part of the service.
How long we keep it
We do not maintain a database of users or sign-in records.
Rate-limit counters are keyed to your Google account identifier and expire within about 26 hours.
Generated AI guidance is cached keyed to the food (not to you) and expires within 30 days.
Anthropic's and Google's handling of data are governed by their own policies.
What we don't do
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other sites.
Your choices
You can use food search and barcode lookup without signing in. The AI coach is the only feature
that requires Google Sign-In, and you can sign out at any time from within the app.
Children
GlycoLens is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Not medical advice
GlycoLens provides general educational information, including estimated glycemic values, and is not a
substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified
healthcare provider about blood sugar and metabolic health.
Changes
We may update this policy; the effective date above reflects the latest version.
